The new common syllabi suggested by ICAR, New Delhi have been introduced from 1998 for all SAUs and recently upgraded in 2007 as per IV Deans Committee recommendations. The new courses added are Fundamentals of Soil & Water Conservation Engineering, Introduction to Computer Application, Farm Power & Machinery, Post Harvest Engineering & Green House Technology, Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) and Experiential Learning Module of Farm Mechanization in the B.Sc. (Agri) course curriculum. Based on new syllabus, the section has developed following laboratories.
- Soil and Water Conservation Engg. (Surveying) and Field Lab.
- Farm Power Machinery Lab.
- Post Harvest Engineering Lab.
- Computer Laboratory and ARIS Cell.
Attempts are being made to equip the present laboratories with new good equipments.
In addition to the teaching activities the section is primarily engaged for the development of College and for maintenance of various Sectional Buildings, staff Quarters, Hostels, Vehicles, Computers, Intercom, Telephone and Panchganga Lift Irrigation Project (PLIP) Unit. Engineering Section provides all the technical assistance and took active participation in the execution of Lift Irrigation Project on Panchganga River in 1980-81. From this project about 40 ha of farm area of the College is being provided the irrigation. Recently the Agril. Engineering Section helped Agronomy, A.S.D.S. and Horticulture Farms for Design and Estimation of Advanced Micro-Irrigation Systems in Modernization Farm. Similarly this section in the Year 1983 to 1987 had executed the work of development in the hard strata of College Play Ground. Now this College is having excellent Play Ground with running track of 400 m.
A new Lift Irrigation Scheme for lifting water for irrigation from Rajaram Tank to Quarry behind the Boys’ Hostel is also being installed as an alternative arrangement.
